Moka legal
Privacy Policy
Effective date: May 2, 2026
Moka is a wellbeing and self-care product designed around check-ins, small goals, reflective letters, and gentle personal rituals. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how we use it to operate Moka responsibly.
This policy is written for the public version of Moka. As the product evolves, we may update this document to reflect new features, partners, or legal requirements.
Information we collect
We collect information that is needed to create your account, personalize your experience, keep the service safe, and understand whether Moka is working as intended.
The exact information may depend on the features you choose to use.
- Account information, such as your authentication identifier, display name, email address, and account settings.
- Product preferences, such as language, locale, reminders, selected visuals, and onboarding choices.
- Wellbeing interactions, such as emotional check-ins, mood selections, optional tags, private journal notes, goals, reflections, letters, saved prompts, and progress history.
- Safety and moderation information, such as reports, content review signals, abuse-prevention metadata, and administrative actions.
- Technical information, such as device, browser, IP-derived region, log data, analytics events, and approximate usage patterns.
How we use information
We use information to provide the Moka experience, maintain trust and safety, improve product quality, and support core operations.
We do not sell personal information. We also do not use private wellbeing content to make emergency, medical, or clinical decisions.
- To authenticate users and keep accounts available across sessions.
- To personalize content, reminders, language, and product state.
- To process check-ins, goals, letters, and other features you choose to use.
- To moderate community-facing content and reduce harassment, abuse, spam, or unsafe behavior.
- To measure product performance, diagnose bugs, understand adoption, and improve Moka without intentionally sending private journal note text or specific emotional tags to product analytics tools.
Wellbeing and sensitive content
Moka may contain personal reflections and wellbeing-related content. We treat this type of content with care and limit access to people or systems that need it for product operation, safety, support, moderation, or legal compliance.
Mood Check entries, emotional tags, and private journal notes are intended to remain private to the account holder inside the product. They are not designed as a public feed, ranking, comparison feature, or social graph.
We do not intentionally use private journal note text for product analytics, advertising, or automatic generative summaries. Any future AI feature that reads or summarizes private journal text would require a separate product and security review before launch.
Moka is not a medical, psychological, crisis-response, or emergency service. If you are in danger or need urgent help, contact local emergency services or a qualified professional.
Retention
We keep information for as long as reasonably needed to provide Moka, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and maintain product records.
Mood Check entries, including optional private journal notes, are generally retained while the account remains active unless you request deletion or the product changes its retention rules.
Some information may be retained in backups, logs, moderation records, or audit records for a limited period even after an account is deleted.
Your choices and rights
You may request access, correction, export, or deletion of personal information where those rights are available under applicable law.
When a deletion request is processed, our goal is to delete or make inaccessible Mood Check entries, private journal notes, and related account-linked metadata, subject to limited backup, security, audit, or legal retention needs.
Some requests may require identity verification, and some information may need to be retained when required for security, legal compliance, or legitimate operational reasons.
Children
Moka is not intended for children under 13 or for anyone below the minimum age required by local law to use online services without parental consent.
If we learn that we collected information from a child in a way that is not permitted, we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Moka changes. When changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to make the updated policy available and adjust the effective date.
Your continued use of Moka after an updated policy becomes effective means the updated policy applies to your use of the service.
